Ammonia is a simple molecule with one nitrogen atom at the centre and three hydrogen atoms around it. The shape is like a pyramid: nitrogen at the top and three hydrogens forming the base. There is also a lone pair of electrons on nitrogen that pushes the N–H bonds slightly closer together, giving a bond angle of about 107°. The molecule is polar, which means one side is slightly negative (near nitrogen) and the other side is slightly positive (near the hydrogens).
